Biography:

Rui’s interest concentrates on urban green infrastructure, urban heat island effect, environmental inequity, and social-ecological system transitions in urban and peri-urban settings. Her research focuses on the role of green infrastructure for mitigating the urban heat island in three low-income communities in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Personal experience spans from individual households to regional comparative analysis to global systematic reviews, involving the assessment of ecosystem services, land use change modelling, participatory scenario planning, and climate change adaptation and mitigation– targeting a variety of environmental challenges include but not limited to escalating urbanisation and climate change.
