Biography:
Michael completed his Masters degree in Natural Resources Assessment and Management at the University of Dar es Salaam. Prior to that, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Regional Development Planning from Ardhi University. His research interests encompass climate change, ecosystem assessment, nature-based solutions, urban resilience, urban informality, natural resources, and rural urban settlement linkages.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Michael has been actively involved in various research projects, collaborating with institutions like the World Bank, UNEP, UNDP, the Tanzania Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development, University of Dar Es Salaam, University of Cape Town and Ardhi University.
His role ranged from research coordination to team leading, focusing on areas such as informal settlement upgrading, urban resilience, and climate change, remote sensing, environmental impact assessment, biodiversity assessment and monitoring, land use planning and disaster risk assessment and management. His contribution to these fields demonstrates his commitment to addressing pressing environmental and societal challenges, contributing to sustainable development in Tanzania and beyond.
