Biography:
With an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews and a BA in Chinese and French studies from Durham University, Agoston’s interdisciplinary academic career is rooted in critical theory. His exploration of identities as social, cultural, and political constructs as an undergraduate led him to centre his postgraduate research around human-nature interactions, environmental ethics, and sustainable urbanism, focusing on post-colonial legacies. Building on a Budapest-based case study, his master’s thesis explored urban heat island mitigation strategies, focusing on the use of hybrid, green-blue-grey infrastructures for improved efficiency.
Currently, he is a researcher at the Berlin-based Studio Olafur Eliasson, where his work revolves around the complex entanglements of humans, art, and nature, with a specific emphasis on more-than-human ontologies. On a more practical level, he is interested in advocacy, activism, and action-focused solutions to anthropogenic climate change and its acute crisis.
