Biography:

Isaïa Sergio  Rakotonandrasana is an environmental scientist from Madagascar. He holds a Master’s degree in Natural Resource Management and Valorisation student at the University of Vakinankaratra. He has built expertise in environmental impact assessment, ecological project management, biodiversity conservation, and the development of conservation strategies.

In terms of field experience, in 2025, he contributed to the data collection and health data digitalisation for the Flourish research project in Antananarivo, Madagascar. In 2022, he conducted biodiversity research at the Maromizaha Humid Evergreen Forest, applying statistical methods to arthropods and identifying vertebrate and plant species. In 2023, he contributed to chemical studies of plant compounds at FOFIFA and carried out research on endemic Malagasy plant species at the National Centre for Pharmaceutical Application and Research. 

Beyond research, Sergio is actively engaged in his community. He has led socioeconomic development training, participated in public exhibitions on World Soil and Water Day, organised awareness campaigns for World Cleanup Day, and volunteered as an English translator for a hospital mission. 

His ambition is to always learn new skills and to master his field further in order to achieve more impact on his community. He dreams of a Madagascar where youth are willing to stay in the country and apply their knowledge and skills to serve the Malagasy people.
