Biography:

Tara is an MSc student at the Centre of Environmental Policy at Imperial College London. Her master’s thesis combines her background in urban studies with her interest in sustainable agriculture through assessing urban agriculture and its role in urban resilience and food security in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Her research interests lie in the intersection between environmental science and environmental policy, particularly in sustainable land use practices, Nature-based solutions, climate change adaptation, and GIS.

Tara grew up in Nottingham and completed her BA in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge in ecology and environmental biology. Following this, Tara worked at the University of Cambridge’s Environmental Plant Physiology Group to improve photosynthetic efficiency in maize crops. She also conducted an internship at the University of Nottingham’s Right’s Lab using GIS to investigate illegal mining practices in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  Outside of her studies, Tara writes for the Environmental section of the student newspaper and conducts environmental outreach workshops to London-based primary schools. She has also spent two years living in Spain.
