Biography:
Joycelyn is completing an MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial College London, specialising in Environmental Resource Management. Her MSc research is working around the Loma National Park in Sierra Leone, exploring environmental resource management practices that support local livelihoods, food security and biodiversity.
She brings five years of experience in corporate sustainability and holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the National University of Singapore, where she took modules on structural inequalities and developed qualitative research skills.
Throughout her career, she has worked on corporate sustainability as a practitioner and a research and advisory service provider, collaborating with academia, corporations, government agencies and non-governmental organisations, including Kering Group, Singapore Exchange, Competition and Consumer Commission Singapore and OECD. Her work has facilitated market access for traditional crafts, strengthened internal standards for supply chain labour welfare and industrial pollution, and informed regulatory guidance on sustainability communications. Her research on corporate action on biodiversity and water resources has facilitated discussions on best practices and practical implementation.
Coupled with her academic background, this has shaped her interests in the political economy of global value chains, particularly the impact of inequitable power structures on local communities and the environment.
