Biography:
Priscilla Forson has a particular interest in environmental and social justice, sustainable waste management, the circular economy and climate change adaptation. She recently completed an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews and possesses a good understanding of the intersection between environmental sustainability and socio-economic growth, with a focus on innovative approaches to mitigating environmental damage.
During her MSc, Priscilla explored sustainable waste management in Ghana’s textile industry, one of the sectors that contributes significantly to the country’s economy but also has a notable environmental footprint. Her research explored the applicability of nature-based solutions to address the environmental impacts of the textile industry, particularly focusing on the reduction of dye effluents in water bodies through phytoremediation, and the usage of natural dyes.
This work provided valuable insights into how these eco-friendly methods can be employed to mitigate the harmful effects of industrial waste on communities and ecosystems. In addition to academic research, Priscilla has worked with non-profit organizations where she has focused on various projects related to gender justice and equality. She has a keen interest in policy analysis, having worked on projects that translate research into actionable policy recommendations. Her passion for sustainability and gender justice continues to drive her work in environmental preservation and equitable policy development.
